Please remember that with all brands of wraps, slings and pouch type carriers, your child is not tied in. Always use good judgment and pay attention to your child’s security and movements.
- Use Common Sense.
- Do not use your baby carrier with an uncooperative child.
- Put an arm around your child when you bend over.
- When stopping to tie or adjust the sling or the baby, be sure you are standing in a safe place.
- Be sure the ends of the cloth do not go lower than your hips. If the cloth is extra long, wrap it around you again or tuck it in.
- Do not use your baby carrier in situations that could harm your child such as while jogging, preparing foods, or holding a hot beverage.
- Be careful not to bump baby's body on furniture, doorways, etc.
- Only an adult should use the sling products.
- Trust your instincts. If you feel that the baby is not wrapped securely, try again. Read the instructions again. If you can't discern what is incorrect, ask for help from an experienced babywearer.
- Have another adult help you when learning a new carry position or using a new sling.
- Have your helper double check your work to be sure baby is secure, and to see if there is any way for baby to slip.
- Practice with a doll instead of your baby if you feel uncomfortable at first.
- Do not cover the baby's head with any cloth that shouldn't be used to cover a baby's head. Pay attention to airflow. This is particularly true for very young, very small babies, or if you have large breasts. As with all brands of carriers, if your baby falls asleep while breastfeeding; assure that he or she has adequate airflow for normal breathing.
- Do not use a nipple shield while breastfeeding your child in your baby carrier.
- Do not use in a motor vehicle.
- Do not use on a boat in place of proper water safety gear.
- Use Common Sense.
- This list does not, and cannot possibly; include warnings about all the things a person might absent-mindedly do. Please, be a responsible adult.
